About Gozo

The island of Gozo is a tiny island, just 7 by 15 km, and 20mins by a ferry from mainland Malta. This truly unique quiet island rich in history and spirituality, is the perfect place for a yoga retreat. The way of life on Gozo is slow, relaxed and friendly. But with some of the best diving, rock climbing and snorkelling in the world, you may want to swap some rest time for exhilarating adventures! This is one of only a few Mediterranean islands that are still unspoilt!

About Our Retreat
You will enjoy 10 days on a magical island with a rich yoga & meditation program. You will experience new adventures, delight in delicious food, make new friends, renew, recharge and improve your yoga practice. You will come home rested and energised!
Retreat location
Our retreat venue is set in a peaceful village of Gharb, with beautiful views to Gozitan countryside and distant sea. Beautifully appointed maisonette apartments are clustered around a feature swimming pool with palm trees. Its only 10 mins drive to the capital city of Victoria and less than 2 miles from the magnificent Azure Window and mighty cliffs.
Yoga Program
Inspirational themed yoga classes twice daily (Hatha, Vinyasa and evening relaxing yoga)
Daily Meditation, Relaxation and Yogic Breathing
Inversions Workshop
Transformational Breathing tm Workshop – as developed by Dr Judith Krawitz – unique powerful therapeutic modality that takes you beyond Rebirthing and Holotropic breathwork
Yoga Science, Philosophy and Mysticism weaved into classes
Sessions take place in a lovely subterranean yoga studio and outside. One sunset class will be at the Azure Window
All Sessions are optional! You are welcome to attend as few or as many as you wish!
Accommodation
You will be accommodated in large 1 bedroom apartments, superbly finished with typical rustic style interiors, stone arches and wooden beams. Each apartment has 1 large bedroom (twin beds), spacious open plan lounge with kitchen (extra beds and seating), bathroom and a balcony.
Food
Food is a very important part of your yoga retreat experience, which is why 2 excellent chefs from Glasgow (Melissa and Dan) will be catering for us. They have many years’ experience catering for yoga retreats around the world, and have a wealth of knowledge about proper vegetarian nutrition. They also run their own business – The Yoga Kitchen. – See their website – http://www.yogakitchen.co.uk/They will provide 3 veggie meals a day; a simple breakfast, a nutritious lunch and dinner. Some allergies and intolerances will be catered for. Please ask.
Free time activities and excursions
You can choose to simply chill out by the lovely big swimming pool or go out and explore. Here are some of the highlights of what Gozo has to offer:
Walk or cycle to the Azure Window, enjoy the majestic cliffs &
And have a dip in the Inland Sea
Try Scuba Diving – highly recommended!
Visit the ancient Citadel with war shelters, museums, cathedral and markets
Take a trip to the Crafts village and watch craftspeople making beautiful items, from glass blowing to lace, pottery and metalwork
Visit Ta Pinu, the famous shrine of miracles
Visit the oldest free standing structures in the world, the megaliths
Take a soul stirring sunset boat trip to the Blue Lagoon and island of Comino
Try sea cave kayaking and snorkel your heart out in the crystal clear waters with visibility down to 30 meters!
There will be group trips organized from the selection above so you can plan your itinerary well ahead of the retreat and choose the trips you like!

 

But one trip that is planned already is a sunset boat trip to the Blue Lagoon, where we will swim, snorkel and enjoy barbecue, then sail into the sunset.

REGULAR COST
Regular cost after 1st December 2014 – £950 per person
Regular cost after 1st March 2015 – £975 per person
Deposit – £150 – non returnable deposit necessary to secure your place
Included in the cost
Accommodation in lovely large 1 bedroom apartments (2 people sharing), 3 meals per day, more than 28 hours of yoga, meditation and workshops! One lunch and one dinner will be outside the retreat, not included in the cost.

 

Not included in the cost

Flights, transfers, insurance, excursions (but there are some lovely free excursions also available)

 

Travelling

Fly to Malta – flights cost currently in a region of £99 – £150 return.
Transfers will be organized and will cost depending on number of people arriving together. If you book onto one of the recommended flights with others, transfers will be as low as £15 – 30 return.

 

How to book your place

To reserve your place a non-refundable deposit of £150 is required, and can be paid either by cheque, cash, paypal or bank transfer. A paypal admin fee £6 will be added.

What was unique and special about Miska’s retreat is that everyone received one to one attention on the first day so they could discuss any issues and practise safely for the rest of the time. YogaGenie retreat came at exactly the right time for me. The perfect balance of rest, yoga practice, time to myself and time with like-minded people. The venue couldn’t take care of us enough, there was plenty of delicious and healthy food and the yoga was just right. Miska is a very knowledgeable and conscientious teacher, with a lovely warm and friendly demeanour.

 

All of her sessions included the right balance of asana practise, meditation and relaxation. Spending a week in the company of amazing, supportive people, in a beautiful place with healthy food and fantastic yoga, was exactly what I needed to clear some space in my head and heart, and hear the answers to some big questions. I highly recommend Miska’s retreats regardless of whether you’re looking for first class yoga, a break from it all, or if you have some soul searching to do.

I hadn’t done a great deal of yoga before and I have had chronic fatique syndrome, and was unaware whether or not the retreat would be too demanding but the variety of classes catered for all levels. Miska was extremely understanding; she is a marvelous teacher – showing that yoga is much more than contortion-ism……that it is potentially a way of life. I was very impressed with her ability to take us in yoga further, whatever our level and ability. I would absolutely recommend Miska as a teacher and thoroughly recommend her retreats.
